Easy Rider

Have you ever put the words car insurance into a search engine and been overwhelmed by the sheer number of results? Choosing the right car insurance to fit your needs and budget is a tough and daunting challenge.

There are of course several websites that claim they can help you. Price comparison websites certainly reduce the time spent deciding on which car insurance to go for. They give you all the relevant information on the insurers most suited to your requirements in a matter of seconds. However, they are not foolproof ways to find the most comprehensive and cost-effective insurance for you.

Although these sites are a good place to kick off your search, the best deals are to be found by reading the small print of individual companies. Some companies seem to offer the world and still maintain a low excess and annual premium, but when you look in the small print the actual offer is only valid on certain cars and yours just doesn’t qualify.

Also, some of the added extras they include to sweeten the deal are pretty much irrelevant or unrelated, such as grocery shopping vouchers and free alcohol. However, there are some insurers which have used their common sense and come up with things that are actually attractive to car drivers.

Take Kwik Fit Insurance as a case in point. Kwik Fit started out as a vehicle servicing company and it has used this to its advantage when offering car insurance quotes.

Kwik Fit offers all new customers an AutoSave Card. This card entitles drivers to 10% off goods and services in its Kwik Fit centres. So this handy 10% can be redeemed against things like brakes, exhausts, tyres and batteries but also on car services, engine oil and filter changes and even MOTs.

This is a service that is actually useful and will actually save you money in the long term instead of just a short-term fix, but to make it even better it is also offering customers the opportunity to buy a sat nav for around £30, which is roughly 50% off what you would normally pay for one of these things. And again, this is something that can be used on a long-term basis.

Other insurers should think about doing the same sort of thing if they want to differentiate themselves from the competition when premiums and the level of excess are now much of a muchness.
